    2019 NEST CHARDONNAY
    SCOUT CIRCLE EXCLUSIVE

Consider the unique significance of a bird nest. Though its hodgepodge appearance and construction typically comprise naturally unremarkable items like twigs, leaves and dirt, a nest’s presence in a vineyard is coveted by most farmers as evidence of something much more magnificent: Health, growth, and a flourishing ecosystem. A nest, after all, is a place for warmth. For love. For happy chirps, for first flights and for family. We created Nest to celebrate the comfort of home, the power of growth and the splendor of nature’s little miracles.

Family is what motivates our resident winemaker, John Harley. John has been making wine for over 16 years and has been doing so in the most natural way possible since day one. Fatherhood has deeply shaped the way he thinks about what we put into the earth, into our bodies, and what we give to those we love. He holds the conviction that it is our duty to be good stewards of the land, and that it’s important to be honest and authentic--not just for the here and now, but for future generations.

The grapes for this single-vineyard Chardonnay were handpicked at night from vines planted in Los Carneros in Sonoma County, California. After harvest, the grapes were pressed and the juice fermented in a combination of stainless steel and neutral French Oak for 20 days. The wine then aged in a combination of stainless steel and neutral French Oak for 6 months until bottling, unfined and lightly filtered.
