Each varietal is fermented for 11 days and then allowed to age in a combination of stainless-steel and oak vessels

The two varietals are then blended together before bottling

Typically, wines from Bordeaux, France, the most well-known wine region in the world, are produced in blends of 5 grapes––Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Amazingly, up until the early 1900s, when a vintage needed a boost in flavor, they would blend in Syrah from the Rhône Valley, about 360 miles to the east!
