Make the best cup of Scouting Grounds Roasting Company Coffee

French Press

If you love a bolder coffee flavor, particularly in the morning, French Press is for you.

  • Bring water to a boil, then let it sit for about 2 minutes. You don't want to scorch the grounds!
  • For a 3-cup French press, add 3 tablespoons of ground coffee to the carafe, then add 10oz water and seal with the top (makes 1 serving).
  • For an 8-cup press, add 10 tablespoons and 30oz water (makes 3 servings).
  • For a 12-cup press, add 1 cup of grounds and 47oz water (4-5 servings).
  • Let steep for about 4 minutes (5 minutes for stronger coffee), depress the plunger and pour.

Traditional Drip Coffee

For those who love to set it and forget it, Drip Coffee is for you. It produces a milder cup of coffee that stays warn and ready in the heating tray anytime you need a warm-up. It's so easy!

  • Add 2 tablespoons of ground coffee into the coffee filter.
  • Add water to the pot's water reserve. 8oz is about 1 cup of coffee.

Pour Over/Chemex

Detail-oriented? Do you have a 12-step skincare routine? This method feels more like a ritual and it produces a very smooth, extracted cup.

  • You will need a carafe, carafe-specific filters, a kettle, a scale, and a timer.
  • Place the filter into the top of the carafe and saturate it with hot water (about 200F). Then, discard the water.
  • Place the grounds in the filter and give it a little shake.
  • Pour 1/4 of your water over the grounds to "bloom," and let it sit for about 45 seconds.
  • Pour another 1/4 of your water in a circular motion in the center of the grounds and work your way outward, for about 90 seconds.
  • Repeat 2 more times in 90 second intervals.
  • Allow all of the water to drip through the filter.
  • Remove the filter, pour, and enjoy.

Cold Brew

For any time of year, this is a fresh and vibrant way to enjoy your Scouting Grounds coffee. Perfect for sipping throughout the morning or when used as the base for a good coffee cocktail!

  • The ratio depends on how strong you like it. Start with 1 teaspoon of grounds per 8oz of water, then add more coffee grounds for a more intense flavor.
  • Pour your grounds into a pitcher and submerge in room-temperature water. Swirl around to ensure al the grounds are wet.
  • Seal the pitcher and place in the refrigerator for 12 hours.
  • Filter it through a paper coffee filter and serve.

Pro tip: For a richer style with more texture, use a cheesecloth to filter!

Espresso

If you're on-the-go and just need a jolt of rich, concentrated, to-the-point coffee flavor, espresso is for you.

  • For the best espresso, you may need to grind our Honduran blend a bit more. Try it for yourself!
  • Fill your espresso filter with 1 tablespoon of ground coffee and dampen. Pull your shot and serve!

Moka

If a Vespa is your preferred mode of transportation and you love making hand-made pasta on a Sunday, Moka is for you!

  • Fill the Moka pot with water up to the line.
  • Fill the filter basket with about 1 tablespoon of grounds (if you have a grinder or processor, it may help to grind it a bit finer). Place it in the bottom compartment and screw on the top spout.
  • Place the Moka pot on a burner and set to medium heat. Take it off the heat once you hear the bubbling/hissing sound (this should take about 5 minutes).
  • Serve immediately.
